Rihla : From the Hadramawt to Gujarat to the Malay Sultanates
What in the 1638? If 1603 time stamped the Union of Crowns, in England and the Crown of Kings (Taj al-Salatin) in the Sultanate of Aceh, 1638 was a contrast for two different Sultanates in South East Asia. In 1638, Sheikh Nur al-Din al-Raniri (in the middle of the poster) wrote the encyclopedic and historical piece 'Bustan al-Salatin'. Just 2,000 miles away Sultan of Maguindanao (holding sword in the poster), protected his realm from the invading Spanish, led by Sebastián Hurtado de Corcuera (as illustrated)
